A private day dedicated to Mary, visiting two places dear to Fr. Jozo Zovko: the convent at Tihaljina and the Franciscan monastery in Široki Brijeg. The road winds through a landscape of stone houses, pine trees and springs.
Široki Brijeg is also the place of the thirty Franciscan martyrs. During the Second World War an angry soldier took the crucifix, threw it on the floor and gave the friars a choice between life and death. One by one they knelt, embraced the cross and professed Christ as their God and their all. They were killed, and their remains burned in a nearby cave; today they rest in the Franciscan church.
